Lamentations 4

[column width=”1/1″ last=”true” title=”” title_type=”single” animation=”none” implicit=”true”]

Over the course of five weeks we are looking at the book of Lamentations. We live in a world that is craving authenticity from the Church, from followers of Christ. One of the areas that we often struggle to be authentic is in experiencing and giving real voice to pain, pain of the individual, and pain of the communal. The book of Lamentations helps us to do that. It helps remind us that pain is a very real experience of life, and that in crying out to God in that pain, we are expressing a kind of praise and hope that is unlike any other.

I try to avoid hearing the heartaches of the world. I look away and block my hearing. Your teaching of Lamentations has convicted me to take in the world’s grief and present it in prayer to a loving God who wants us to have compassion and kindness like his. You speak so clearly in deciphering the Scriptures, making it easy to understand what God wants of me. We are not to be overwhelmed into apathy but jumpstarted into action.
Thanks, Eric
